For pure automation, the best factory game on iPhone is Shapez: build conveyor factories on an infinite map, for a single unlock. Mindustry adds tower defence to its supply chains, and Builderment sends you across a planet. If you'd rather run a real production line as a business, there's Car Factory Director, which we make.

We list our own game first because we know it best, and we say so. Everything about the other games comes from their App Store listings, checked on 30 October 2026. Prices are US prices, and ratings and versions change.

Apple's "Contains ads" label is declared by each developer. A dash means the label isn't shown, not that the game is ad-free. Factory Inc. sells a way to skip ads, so expect them there.

1. Car Factory Director: run a real production line

Parts screen with days of cover for each of the five part families and the deliveries arriving
Car Factory Director: keep five part families in stock, or the line stops.

Car Factory Director isn't about laying conveyor belts. You run a car plant as a business: five stations from press to test, a line that goes only as fast as its slowest station, suppliers to choose, shifts to add and a yard that stops the line when it's full. Then you design the next model and sell it in 14 markets.

It costs $1.99 once, with no ads and no in-app purchases, and it never needs the internet. It needs iOS 26 or later. It's new, so it has no App Store ratings yet.

Choose it if you like finding bottlenecks and making the numbers work. Skip it if you want to design factory layouts from scratch. More about Car Factory Director.

2. Shapez: pure automation

Build conveyor factories that mass-produce and colour abstract shapes, on an infinite map. It's free to level 7, and then a single $6.99 unlock buys the full game. There's no Apple ads label.

Choose it if you want the purest factory-building puzzle on iPhone.

3. Mindustry: factories that fight back

Your supply chains feed turrets and build units, so factory design meets tower defence and real-time strategy, with co-op and player-against-player modes. It costs $1.99, with no in-app purchases listed.

Choose it if you want automation with action.

4. Builderment: harvest a planet

Harvest resources across a planet and link factories with conveyors to craft ever more complex items. It's free with in-app purchases, and Apple lists it as containing ads.

Choose it if you want a Factorio-style chain of crafting on your phone.

5. Assembly Line 2: lay out the machines

Lay out machines that craft resources for sale, mixing layout puzzles with idle earnings. Its description says no internet is required. It's free with no in-app purchases listed, and Apple lists it as containing ads.

Choose it if you want a simple layout game that runs while you watch.

6. Production Chain Tycoon

Balance supply and demand as you move from wood and stone up to plastics. Its description says it plays offline. It's free with in-app purchases.

7. Idle Factory Tycoon, Factory Inc. and Factory World: idle factories

These three have the most ratings on this list, and all three are idle games: upgrade machines, hire managers and watch the money build. Idle Factory Tycoon (Kolibri Games) sells a monthly VIP subscription. Factory Inc. covers more than 90 products, and its description says it plays offline. Factory World has you buy land tiles and connect them into production chains. All are free, with in-app purchases.

Choose one if you want light play rather than a puzzle.

How we chose

We searched the US App Store for factory, production and automation games, and kept games with real players and recent updates. We left out merge and kids' games, and games not updated since 2023, such as Sandship and Little Big Workshop. We didn't play every game, so styles come from each game's own description. For each one we checked its price, in-app purchases, Apple's labels, rating and last update on 30 October 2026.
