What you do in Vineyard Director

  • Pick your region

Ten of the world's great wine regions, each its own game: Barossa's century-old Shiraz, Napa's tourists and land prices, Bordeaux's en primeur, Champagne's chalk and the Mosel's slate cliffs.

  • Grow it

Buy or lease parcels, each with its own soil, slope and warmth, and plant what suits it. Prune, spray and thin the crop, and put frost fans where the cold air pools.

  • Pick it

The harvest is the moment of the year, and time slows while fruit is ripe. Read the forecast, hire crews and pick each parcel at its peak. Wait for rain and the rot sets in.

  • Make it

Crush, ferment and choose steel, used oak or new French oak. Every wine's estimate narrows as it ages, until the critics score it on bottling day.

  • Sell it

Set your cellar-door price, sign distributors, grow a wine club, open guest houses and a restaurant, and ship to importers in five countries.

  • Build a name

Every score moves your reputation, and reputation moves every price. Win medals, go organic, and climb from Garage Winery to Icon Estate.

About Vineyard Director

You start with four hectares of someone else's vines, a borrowed press and a harvest weeks away. Everything else you build.

Vineyard Director runs in real time. Vines change colour through the seasons, pickers work the rows and weather passes overhead. Pause, or play at 2× and 4× speed. Each season ends with a report, and every harvest brings a vintage report.

Three things keep every decision honest. The weather decides the year: frost, hail, heat and rain at harvest can each cost you a vintage. Time is the ingredient: new vines take two years to bear fruit, and great reds spend up to two years in the cellar before they sell. And quality costs quantity: thinning the crop and picking later make better wine, and less of it.

Choose from ten regions and five scenarios, build your own winery, cellar and tasting room, and climb from Garage Winery to Boutique Estate, Established Winery, Renowned House and finally Icon Estate.

No ads, no in-app purchases, no tracking, no offline progress. The estate only runs while you're there.
