What you do in Oil Director
Win the licence
Bid in licensing rounds, commit to a work programme, then survey. Seismic narrows the reserve estimate. The exploration well is the big gamble: a discovery, or a dry hole and the money gone.
Every barrel counts
Every field declines from its first day. Water injection, infill drilling and enhanced recovery fight the curve. Late-life fields go cash-negative: sell, shut in or abandon.
Move it to market
Trucks, pipelines, storage tanks and export terminals. When the tanks fill, the wells choke. Hold barrels through a dip and sell into a spike.
Play the market
You don't set the price. It swings from glut to crisis. Read the outlook, lock in offtake contracts with refiners and traders, and keep your delivery grades up.
Go global
Fifteen countries, each with its own crude grade, royalty, tax and risks, from North Sea winters to Gulf hurricanes. Your choice of home country sets the difficulty.

About Oil Director
You start with one leased block and a rented rig. Everything else you build.
Oil Director runs in real time. The price ticker moves, the wells pump and the tankers sail. Pause, or play at 2× and 4× speed. Each month ends with a report: production, realised price, revenue, royalty and tax, reserves, contract grades and the price outlook. Every twelfth report is an annual review.
Two things keep every decision honest. Depletion means standing still is shrinking, so exploration never stops mattering. And the price is set by the market, not by you: a boom makes everything look clever, and a bust finds out who borrowed too much.
Expand country by country, each with its own geology, fiscal terms and politics, and climb from Wildcatter to Independent, Regional, International and finally Supermajor.
